12 for Life, a cooperative education program supported by Southwire Company, was one of only 22 schools in the nation to be chosen to participate in the Rethinking K-12 Education Summit. The purpose of the event was to bring educators, leaders and innovators from around the country together who are demonstrating student-centric models to improve student achievement. Dr. Doug Wright, Principal of the South College and Career Academy and 12 for Life Coordinator, attended the Summit in Washington, D.C. The event was moderated by U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos and was aired live on C-SPAN.

12 for Life provides students with classroom instruction, on-the-job training, key work/life skills, mentoring and employment opportunities to motivate students to finish 12 years of school and enjoy better lives.
