2017 "YES I CAN" Awards Ceremony

On March 30, 2017, The Exceptional Children Services Department of Carroll County Schools held the 6th annual “Yes I Can” awards ceremony at Midway Baptist Church. The Council for Exceptional Children started this event in 1981 to acknowledge the achievements of children and youth with disabilities; to overcome barriers caused by public misconceptions; to encourage children and youth with disabilities to seek their highest potential; and to increase public awareness of the abilities, aspirations and personal qualities of people with disabilities. On Thursday evening, students of all ages from all schools in Carroll County were recognized for their individual accomplishments. Special professional and student awards included:

  • Community Service Award - Pilgrim’s Pride

  • ECS Professional of the Year Award - Jeff Pence-School Psychologist

  • ECS Outstanding Educator of the Year Award - Katy Goolsby

  • Yes I Can Buddy Award- Lucy Barker
