Apr 24 2017
The Carroll County College and Career Academy sponsored a Work Based Learning Employee Appreciation Breakfast at Tabernacle Baptist Church on Friday, April 21, 2017. There were approximately 300 attendees, consisting of program students from all five Carroll County High Schools, employer representatives, high school administrators, counselors and several board of education members.
Daniel Jackson, President and CEO of Carroll County Chamber of Commerce and Carroll Tomorrow was the guest speaker and spoke of the importance of a prepared workforce, especially those who are experienced in soft skills—things not learned in the classroom. Work Based Learning strives to turn inexperienced high school students into productive, reliable employees. In the 2016-2017 school year, students worked close to 200,000 hours and earned well over $1,000,000.00, much of which is spent here in Carroll County.
