1. Why were these changes approved?

The attendance zone changes were made as part of the district’s Master Plan for all facilities and an extensive review of enrollment projections for Carroll County.

2.   Which schools are impacted by attendance zone changes?

  • About 103 Mount Zion Elementary students are rezoned to Bowdon Elementary.

  • About 51 Mount Zion Middle students are rezoned to Bowdon Middle.

  • About 65 Mount Zion High students are rezoned to Bowdon High.

  • About 36 Central Middle students are rezoned to Mount Zion Middle.

  • About 84 Central High students are rezoned to Mount Zion High.

  • About 18 Temple Middle students are rezoned to Mount Zion Middle.

  • About 11 Temple High students are rezoned to Mount Zion High.

  • About 29 Ithica Elementary students are rezoned to Temple Elementary.

5.   Can a student that has been redistricted stay at their current school?

If you would like to keep your child at their current school/cluster for the 2024-25 school year, you must complete an online Redistricting Waiver Form* February 5-9. If your child is currently in the 5th or 8th grade, the school will review your request, and you will be notified via email the week of February 26. All other grade levels will be approved automatically. You may access the Redistricting Waiver Form February 5-9 at https://bit.ly/41n53ic. You may also scan the QR code with your phone. If you do not have Internet access, please visit your child’s school to complete the online Redistricting Waiver Form.*In accordance with Board Regulation JBC-R, your student must remain in good academic, attendance, and behavioral standing and maintain a cooperative relationship to remain at the waivered school.

6.     How will I be notified if my child is affected by the attendance line changes?

  • Parents of students affected by the proposed changes will be notified by mail. 

  • Parents of students affected by the proposed changes will receive a phone call. 

  • The district will also send an electronic notification to parents of affected students.

  • Additionally, the schools affected by the attendance line adjustments will have lists showing which students are impacted by the attendance line changes.

7.     How and when do you apply for a Redistricting Waiver?

If you would like to keep your child at their current school/cluster for the 2024-25 school year, you must complete an online Redistricting Waiver Form* February 5-9. 9.    Is a sibling of a student who stays at one of the three schools but is not currently enrolled in school eligible for a Redistricting Waiver?

No, children not yet enrolled in Carroll County School System will attend the school in their newly assigned zone. A parent may elect to file for an In-district Waiver when enrolling the younger sibling to attend the current school of their brother/sister; however, approval of the In-district Waiver would be dependent upon space availability.
