Board of Education Sets Tentative Millage Rate
Aug 01 2018
The Carroll County Board of Education set a tentative millage rate at the called Board Meeting on July 31, 2018. After discussion and review of the tax digest, the Board of Education tentatively approved the current millage rate of 17.998 mills.
Every school system in the state is required to review the millage rate and calculate the rollback rate annually. The rollback rate is driven by tax digest growth due to property value reassessments.
Continuing the current millage rate will be an increase of 1.83 percent over the rollback millage rate. This decision would allow the Board to invest additional money for school safety, to purchase additional buses and to have a balanced budget for fiscal year 2018-2019.
