Board of Education Sets Tentative Millage Rate for FY2020-21
Jul 16 2020
The Carroll County Board of Education set a tentative millage rate at the Board Meeting on July 16, 2020. After discussion and review of the tax digest, the Board of Education tentatively approved the current millage rate of 17.998 mills.
Every school system in the state is required to review the millage rate and calculate the rollback rate annually. The rollback rate is driven by tax digest growth due to property value reassessments.
Continuing the current millage rate will be an increase of 2.89 percent over the rollback millage rate. This decision would allow the Board to provide virtual learning opportunities as well as enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocols for school campuses for fiscal year 2020-2021.
