Carroll County Media Centers Implement New Research Technology

Sep 17 2019

The Carroll County Association of School Media Specialists (CAMS) held their first Professional Learning CAMS meeting for the 2019-2020 school year on August 29th at the Performing Arts Center. During the meeting, Kristin Limbaugh, President of the CAMS group, gave out newly designed Follett VersaScanner's for each Media Specialist in the County.

The implementation of the Destiny Mobile VersaScanners will improve and facilitate a safe way for students to research scholarly based articles and websites for classroom content research assignments. Because of the wireless capabilities, the scanners can be used in any classroom by any teacher or student. It allows the media center resources to extend outside the media center doors and directly into the hands of students. This technology will also provide students access to all of the eBooks offered in the media center catalog, and will allow students to utilize the "collections" feature within Destiny. By pairing standard-based content with instruction, students are given the opportunity to collect and curate resources for assignments, projects, and tasks.
