Carroll County School District Achieves 2018 GSBA Distinguished School Board Status
Jun 22 2018
Carroll County School System is proud to announce the achievement of the Georgia School Boards Association’s (GSBA) 2018 Distinguished School Board recognition.
The recognition program was designed to showcase best practices in school governance and leadership. GSBA recognizes good school board governance to foster educational community cultures in order to advance student learning and achievement.
The Carroll County Board of Education met and/or exceeded the criteria set forth by GSBA to earn this honor of a 2018 Distinguished Board in the areas of strategic planning, the Georgia Vision Project, assessment, evaluation, and training requirements.
“Everyone at Carroll County Schools works extremely hard to improve upon our vision of being a premier school system. The GSBA Distinguished School Board recognition is just a small part of a larger picture where we, as a board of 7 members, try very hard to support the entire school system. The board is honored by the GSBA award; however, the board is not satisfied with the status quo. To demonstrate our continual improvement, it is my hope that we will strive for GSBA’s highest recognition of Exemplary Board of Education,” stated Bart Cater, Chairman of Carroll County Board of Education.
Scott Cowart, Superintendent of Carroll County Schools stated, “We are extremely proud that GSBA has recognized the Carroll County Board Education as a Distinguished Board for two consecutive years. Our board members have work diligently to create a unified direction that supports our vision and our commitment to positively changing the lives of students in Carroll County.”
The GSBA Governance Team Recognition Program was developed by Georgia superintendents and board members based on the state board of education’s standards for effective governance to recognize distinguished leadership. The GSBA Board recognition program is a three-year, three tiered program. For more information on the program you may visit gsba.com.
