The Carroll County Board of Education approved the appointment of a new principal for Whitesburg Elementary School (WES) at the April 18 Board Meeting.

Lindsey Long was named Principal of WES. Mrs. Long began her career with Carroll County as an educator in the Whitesburg community. She most recently served as an Assistant Principal at Central Elementary School. Mrs. Long earned her bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and specialist in Early Childhood Education from the University of West Georgia. She is married to BJ Long, and they reside in Whitesburg with their three children.

“I am honored to have the privilege to continue the tradition of excellence at Whitesburg Elementary School. I am strongly committed to the Whitesburg community and will utilize every opportunity that I am given to make a difference within the classroom, the community, the Central Cluster, and Carroll County School System,” stated Mrs. Long.

“We are excited about what Mrs. Long brings to WES and look forward to the school continuing to be a leader in innovation for our school district,” said Scott Cowart, Superintendent of Carroll County School System. “She has done a wonderful job of building relationships and providing premier opportunities in her current position, and I am confident that she will provide the same level of dedication to the families we serve in Whitesburg.”

In addition to Mrs. Long’s appointment, the Board also approved two Assistant Principal positions. Remonica Stephens will serve as Assistant Principal at Glanton-Hindsman Elementary School, and Leisha Sauls will join the Bay Springs Middle School administrative team.

Superintendent Cowart stated, “Each of these new administrators brings a wealth of experience and professionalism to their new roles. We are delighted to have them on our 24Strong Team.”
