The Carroll County School System and Carroll County Association of Educators presented the 2018 Spelling Bee on February 9, at the Carroll County Schools Performing Arts Center. Eighteen students from Carroll County elementary and middle schools participated in the event. After 27 rounds, Amelia Seter, a fifth grade student from Ithica Elementary School, took home first place by correctly spelling the word “sardonic”. Raleigh Pritchard, an eighth grade student from Bay Springs Middle School, finished with the second place title. By winning first place in the County Spelling Bee, Seter is eligible to compete in the District 4 Spelling Bee. The 2018 Spelling Bee for District 4 will be held on February 24, 2018.
