Carroll County Student Earns Second Consecutive Spelling Bee Title

Feb 08 2019

Carroll County School System held its annual Spelling Bee on February 8, at the Carroll County Schools Performing Arts Center. Eighteen students from Carroll County elementary and middle schools participated in the event. After 35 rounds, two-time Carroll County Spelling Bee champion, Amelia Seter, a sixth grade student from Bay Springs Middle School, took home first place by correctly spelling the word “unscrupulous”. Christopher Duncan, a sixth grade student from Central Middle School, finished with the second place title. By winning first place in the County Spelling Bee, Seter is eligible to compete in the Georgia Association of Educators Region Spelling Bee, which will be held on February 23, 2019 in Decatur, Georgia.

Carroll County School System greatly appreciates the support of our community partners that made the event possible: Carroll County Board of Education; Carroll County Association of Educators, Georgia Power Northwest Federal Credit Union, Synovus Bank, Carroll EMC, and Dairy Queen.
