Central High School’s Symphonic Band, under the direction of Mr. Neil Ruby, was awarded the Exemplary Performance Award by the Georgia Music Educators Association. The Georgia Music Educators Association Exemplary Performance Award was created to recognize outstanding bands, orchestras, and choruses in Georgia whose students excel in all aspects of performance, both individually and as part of a group.
To be eligible for the award, a band must participate in all GMEA sponsored events and receive a superior rating at Large Group Performance Evaluation in both Concert Performance and Sight Reading. Bands must have at least one student selected for the All-State Band have a significant number of students receive superior ratings at Solo/Ensemble Performance Evaluation.
