Central Middle Student Wins Optimist Essay Contest

Congratulations to Central Middle School seventh grader Ragan Burchfield for winning first place in the Optimist Club of Carrollton's 2022 Essay Contest. Students wrote 700-800 words on the topic, “How Does an Optimistic Mindset Change My Tomorrow?” and the club received over 50 entries. Ragan’s essay will advance to district competition and a chance to win a $2,500 scholarship. In the winning essay, Ragan wrote, “There are 7.8 billion people in the world, so even if 99.999% of them don’t like you, that still leaves 78,000 that do!”
