CES, VRES take top spots at Science Olympiad

Mar 27 2023

Central Elementary School was crowned champion of the Carroll County Schools Science Olympiad March 25 as around 160 students from all 12 Carroll County elementary schools competed in 18 events. Villa Rica Elementary hosted the competition and took second place.

Pairs of competitors work together in events ranging from identifying rocks and naming bones in the skeleton to building a bridge to span the greatest length while holding a 250 gram clay weight. The school with the most top finishes across all categories is declared the winner and the top four schools advance to the state tournament May 6 at Kennesaw State University.

Bowdon Elementary and Glanton-Hindsman Elementary finished third and fourth, respectively, and will advance to state along with CES and VRES.
