(Carrollton, Ga. - October 19, 2018) Carroll County School System is pleased to announce that eight of its schools rank among the top 5% of Title I schools in Georgia. Bowdon Elementary School, Ithica Elementary School, Mount Zion Elementary School, Providence Elementary School, Roopville Elementary School, Villa Rica Elementary School, Whitesburg Elementary School, and Bowdon Middle School were all named to the Georgia Department of Education's list of top performing Title I schools based on 2017 CCRPI scores. Each of these schools now qualifies to apply for the National ESEA Distinguished School Award. This prestigious award is granted to only two schools per state each year for exceptional student performance, closing the achievement gap between student groups, and for demonstrating excellence in serving special populations of students.
"Our administrators, teachers, parents, and students have all worked together to achieve this recognition, and we are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication to the success of all students," said Dr. Dana Harman, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.
