Helpful Information Regarding Coronavirus

Feb 26 2020

There has been extensive news coverage of the Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in China and other countries. Because of the media attention regarding 2019-nCoV, we would like to share helpful information to keep you informed.

To date, there are no reported cases of Coronavirus in Georgia, and the overall risk to the general public and schools remains low, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH).

The Coronavirus is much like the flu and other respiratory illnesses that circulate each year.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends everyday actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

  • Keep children home when they are sick.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze and wash hands afterwards.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom and before eating. (If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.)

The health and well-being of students and staff is our top priority, and Carroll County Schools will continue to closely monitor updates from the Georgia DPH and the CDC to ensure we are proactive in our preparation.
