High Schoolers Win Creative Writing Contest

Carroll County Schools students were big winners in the 2022 High School Creative Writing Contest organized by the Carrollton Writers Guild and the Carrollton Center for the Arts. The annual competition features literary artists in Grades 9 – 12 who write poetry and short stories. Winners are selected in both categories and are recognized at a celebration luncheon March 1.

Villa Rica High School Senior Carina Solis received the Carrollton Civic Woman’s Club Special Recognition Award in Poetry for “For Those Who Cannot Stay Quiet.”

Central High School Senior Alaina Carey won first place in Poetry for “Ode to the Grand Piano.”

Central High School Freshman Kai McMichael won first place in Short Story for “Every Eleven Minutes.”  

Villa Rica High School Junior Diana Espinoza won second place in Short Story for “The Mountains Meeting the Sky.”
