After winning first place in the Carroll County Reading Bowl, Ithica Elementary advanced to the state TomeCon event at University of North Georgia in Gainesville and won 1st place. "I am extremely proud of the hard work that our students have put into our team this year," club advisor Heather Kinard said. "They read and studied their books at home and came together once a week to study and quiz each other after school. They have such a love for reading and it is always a joy watching them shine doing what they love!” The Tome Student Literacy Society is a book club for students in grades 2-12. Students in club chapters read and discuss great books, create items to enter in literacy-based competitions, and participate in virtual and in-person literacy events. TomeCon is a statewide event held annually where local chapters of the Tome Society meet and learn from authors, participate in sessions on reading, writing, technology, engineering, art and music and receive awards for their participation in Tome Society competitions throughout the year.
