The Georgia Department of Education (GADOE) recently released its list of top performing Title I schools in the state, and seven Carroll County schools were among those recognized.
Title I Distinguished Schools:
-
Central Elementary School
-
Ithica Elementary School
-
Sharp Creek Elementary School
-
Whitesburg Elementary School
Title I Reward Schools:
“From the boardroom to the classroom, we have a unified vision of providing a premier education for all students," stated Dr. Jessica Ainsworth, Assistant Superintendent of School Performance. “We are excited that our district and schools continue to be recognized as leaders in our community and across the state for high academic achievement.”
The GADOE honors successful schools who are making significant progress in closing the achievement gap and improving academic performance. Distinguished Schools rank among the top 5% of Title I schools in Georgia and have the highest absolute performance for the all-students group, based on the current statewide assessment. Reward Schools rank among the top 5% of Title I schools in the state that are making the most progress in improving performance for the all-students group for two consecutive years on statewide assessments. Superintendent Scott Cowart added, “To have more Distinguished and Reward School designations than any other school system in the West Georgia area is a testament to the great work of our students, teachers, and leaders. Clear alignment of efforts across our schools has and will continue to lead to outstanding results. We strive to be recognized for premier opportunities for students and these recognitions validate the quality experience our students receive on a daily basis.”
