Carroll County Schools crowned its annual District Spelling Bee champions January 17 at the Carroll County Schools Performing Arts Center. Eighteen students from Carroll County elementary and middle schools competed in the event. Lisa McKay, a seventh-grade student from Bay Springs Middle School spelled her way to first place and Ithica Elementary School fifth grader Kamden Stephens was runner-up. By winning first place in the District Spelling Bee, McKay is eligible to compete in the Georgia Association of Educators Region Spelling Bee, the winner of which will advance to the state bee. Congratulations to Lisa and Kamden!
