Former Ga. Gov. Deal visits WES

Former Georgia Governor Nathan Deal visited students at Whitesburg Elementary School today to share his book, "Veto, the Governor's Cat." Deal shared stories about his time in the Governor's Mansion and about two cats who moved back home with him at the end of his second term. Rome artist Cheryl Riner Hodge illustrated the book and was also on hand to visit with students. The book describes the experiences of children through the eyes of Veto, Governor Deal's cat. Through colorful characters, Veto discovers new friendships, the challenges of moving, overcoming fear and grief, self-discovery and the importance of kindness and courage. Deal left three signed copies of the book for the library at Whitesburg, including one copy with text in both English and Spanish. Thank you to former Governor Deal and Cheryl Hodge for taking time to inspire children with their work!
