REACH Scholars

Carroll County Schools has named its 2026 REACH Scholars who were recognized November 20 at the Carroll County Board of Education meeting. REACH Georgia is the state’s first needs-based mentorship and college scholarship program.

Each school cluster in Carroll County nominated one eighth grader to enter the program which will provide academic and social support through high school. Each student signs a commitment to maintain a 2.5 HOPE-calculated GPA, remain crime, drug and behavior-issue free and meet with a volunteer mentor and academic coach until he or she graduates from high school.

Upon graduation, the student receives a scholarship of up to $10,000 toward attendance at a HOPE-eligible postsecondary institution in the state of Georgia.

During the signing ceremony, REACH Scholars were joined by the President of the Georgia Student Finance Commission Chris Green, as well as GSFC Commissioner Linda McWhorter who represents Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District.

REACH began in 2012 as Georgia's first need-based scholarship and mentoring program. REACH serves promising students in their educational journey to ensure they have the support needed to graduate from high school, enroll at and graduate from an eligible postsecondary institution - becoming a vital part of our state's future workforce.

Along with their Scholar, REACH parents or guardians sign a contract to support and encourage their student to develop positive relationships with teachers, mentors, tutors, counselors, and academic coaches, and continually communicate with school personnel and volunteers to ensure their student is on the path to high school graduation.

REACH Georgia ensures that Scholars not only have access to a postsecondary institution but are also equipped with the resources to successfully transition and complete their postsecondary degree. REACH Georgia, in partnership with our postsecondary institutions, provides continuous support throughout their postsecondary degree or certificate attainment.

Congratulations to our 2026 REACH Scholars!
