Congratulations to Central High School senior Corey Kenney for being awarded the the 2025 Martin Luther King Jr. Step Up Student Award by the Carrollton MLK Coalition. After struggling in school prior to entering high school and moving to Carrollton, Kenney joined the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps at Central High School and has flourished. He serves as the second highest ranking member of the corps of cadets and is an Elite Color Guard member.
Kenney recently competed military entrance requirements and is preparing for basic training to join the Army National Guard with plans of becoming a cannon artillery operator. While in high school he has been a member of the Track & Field Team and JROTC. Through JROTC he has logged 200 hours of community service this year alone.
