Carroll County Schools celebrates Black History Month during February. Students across the county have been participating in a variety of activities, assemblies and instructional resources to learn about the many contributions and achievements of African Americans throughout history.

Among the many resources available for further study and involvement, the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture offers an annual theme and programming in conjunction with the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, the founders of Black History Month.

The 2026 theme celebrates the 100th anniversary of Black History Month and is called "A Century of Black History Commemorations." For more information and resources, visit https://nmaahc.si.edu/explore/moments/black-history-month and https://asalh.org/black-history-themes/.
