Central Elementary School was crowned champion of the Carroll County Schools Science Olympiad March 20 as around 200 students from all 12 Carroll County elementary schools competed in 18 events at Sharp Creek Elementary School. Sand Hill Elementary School won second place.
Pairs of competitors work together in events ranging from identifying rocks and naming bones in the skeleton to building a bridge to span the greatest length while holding a 250 gram clay weight.
