When our nation declared its independence in 1776, those men who pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor wrote, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed, by their Creator, with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness."

As we celebrate 250 years of American Independence, let us pledge ourselves anew to an America who remembers and cherishes these ideals and who does not stop teaching them to the next generation.
